Number One is located in Amsterdam North, directly on the IJ and benefits from a magnificent view to the waterfront and the city center of Amsterdam. The building is part of the NDSM area, a former shipyard which used to be one the biggest in Europe at that time. The municipality of Amsterdam has decided to redevelop the NDSM area into a multifunctional area including office, retail, residential, education, culture and leisure functions. The building was originally developed for the 2 anchor tenants Hema Nederland and VNU Media (currently known as De Persgroep). In order to give the 2 main tenants their own identity within the building, a large passage is created through the middle of the building. The office and retail space is divided over the ground floor up to the seventh  floor and a 3 layer parking garage underneath the building.

The ground floor will be renovated and transformed to a modern, multifunctional area with facilities for all tenants in the building.
